We warmly welcome all new parents, children and teachers to Swindon   Village   Primary School .  We hope that your time at the school will be successful and enjoyable.  We look forward to you joining in all the events the FOSVPS have planned for the forthcoming academic year!

Firstly, we have a new Chairperson, Rebecca Teasdale and a new Publicity Officer, Lorraine Atkins.  Our Treasurer is Jane Berry and our Secretary is Julie Vizor, who remain unchanged this year.

We would like to thank Ann Willemstein (retiring chair) and Cyndi Taylor (retiring Publicity Officer) for their hard work and support in the past few years.

A note from the new Chair:

Hello everyone, just a few lines to introduce myself.

I am new to the school as my daughter India started in reception this September.  I decided that I wanted to get involved in supporting the school, I wasn’t quite anticipating becoming the chair but still - in for a penny, in for pound!  I am married to Paul who will no doubt get roped in to help out and we have a one year old boy called Saul.  I am the HR Director for a local charity that supports disadvantaged families and young people.  I have worked for them for almost 4 years and previously 17 years at Zurich Financial Services.  I am really looking forward to getting involved in fundraising for the school and would like to encourage all parents who feel they could help, even just occasionally, to let me know.  We need help with anything from making the teas at school performances to organising and planning big events like the June fair.  Something for everyone!  So don’t be shy, come to the next meeting and find out how you can help.

Phones 4 School

You should have received a letter, prize list and a plastic bag this week.  This is a scheme that the FOSVPS ran last year and it proved very sucessful.  For every phone your child recycles, they can claim a prize, the more phones the greater the prize.  Last year we recycled 200 phones for which we received £300 plus £147 Argos vouchers for the school.   The sim card needs to be removed before being recycled.  The box will be in reception this week to start the collections.

This is an ongoing scheme, so if Father Christmas brings you a new phone and you need to get rid of your old one, please consider recycling it!

Webb Ivory.

Lorraine volunteered to organise the Webb Ivory orders this year.  The total order value was £1394, which means we will receive £210 in commission.

Thank you all for your orders.

The FOSVPS would like to wish you all a

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
